Nisshin Shipping appears close to phasing out its products tankers.

The SLS-built, 39,000-dwt Wildebeest (built 2009) is is said to have gone to another Japanese owner for $20.5m.

Nisshin bought the ship from Unicorn in 2010 for $37m in a deal involving a two-year charter back to the South African owner at a high $18,000 per day.

It appears that Nisshin is selling the ship on completion of the charter, which is typical of many Japanese owners.
