IMC Industrial Group is splashing out $144m to build four of the world’s largest multipurpose (MPP) vessels.

The Singaporean company has gone to Oshima Shipbuilding for the 64,000-dwt units, which are set for delivery between the second half of 2016 and into 2017.

One shipbroker believes they will be the biggest MPPs ever ordered. “The largest MPP newbuildings that have been built are only 40,000 dwt,” he said.
