The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will not discuss delaying the implementation of the ballast water convention until just before the September deadline to start fitting equipment.
The critical Maritime Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) meeting originally scheduled in May has been postponed until July, the shipping regulator confirmed last week.
Top of the agenda was delaying the enforcement of the convention for two years to give owners time to find the right equipment.
