Passengership safety is set to dominate the upcoming Ship Design and Construction (SDC) meeting at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) next week.

Regulators are hoping to make progress on a number of initiatives emerging out of the Costa Concordia disaster three years ago and other incidents.

Measures intended to improve ro-ro safety and passengership evacuation have also been given added urgency following the Norman Atlantic fire over New Year and the loss of the South Korean ferry Sewol last year.
