The conference, in its fifth year and entitled “Shipping 2020 and Beyond”, included for the first time live interaction with the audience and real-time polling. So enthusiastic were those taking part that the lunch-time sessions exceeded its scheduled time slot.

Polling embraced issues involving geopolitics, economics and shipowning. The majority agreed there will be heightened tensions between the US and Russia, as well as a further escalation in territorial disputes in the South China Sea, leading to a change in traffic routing patterns in Asia.
