A 1980s-built LNG carrier controlled by West African producer Nigeria LNG (NLNG) has been sold on to a buyer with fresh designs for the ship.

Market sources say the 133,000-cbm LNG Finima (built 1984) has been sold to Swiss-headquartered Sahara Energy International (SEI), the trading arm of Nigerian energy and gas infrastructure company Sahara Energy.

They indicate the ship has been earmarked for conversion into a floating LNG (FLNG) production unit.
