The ability to navigate is one of the first things to deteriorate in a noticeable way with the early onset of dementia, according to scientists.
So much so that a virtual reality game developed to research diagnosis of the disease, Sea Hero Quest VR, involves captaining a boat.
“The challenge is to use your sense of direction to chart a course through complex waterways, desert islands and icy oceans,” said a BBC review of the game, which also apparently involves feeding hot dog-loving sea monsters.
