Several weeks of port congestion in Asian, US and European ports is disrupting schedules and forcing carriers to seek short-term fixes in the charter market.

In Europe, the problem hit home in Rotterdam with the G6 liner shipping alliance switching more of its services to the port of Antwerp.

G6 member lines — comprising Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Hyundai Merchant Marine, APL and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) — will shift three sailings on their Asia to Europe Loop 4 on a temporary basis.
