Container freight rates have jumped sharply as lines make a concerted effort to reverse several weeks of falls.

Rates on eight major routes to and from the US, Europe and Asia, rose by 25.6% to $1,517 per 40-ft (feu) container in the week ending 3 November, according to the World Container Index.

Rates increased by more than one-third on the Shanghai to Rotterdam trade, rising by $462 to $1,716 per feu.
