TheNational Retail Federation (NRF) expectsvolumes to increase by 7.5% this month due to the threat of a potential strikeby dockworkers.

Itretailers are expected to bring“unusually high quantities of merchandise” into the country early to avoid anypotential disruptions after the labor contract with West Coast dockworkersexpires.

“We don’t want to see disruptions at the ports butretailers are making sure they are prepared in case that happens,” NRFspokesman Jonathan Gold said.
