US-listed bulker owner Eagle Bulk Shipping is selling a seven-year-old supramax bulker as it continues to weed out older, less efficient ships.

The Dayang-built 53,000-dwt Thrush (built 2011) has gone to an undisclosed buyer for $11.3m, US brokers say.

They added that the Thrush, a Diamond 53-design, is less fuel efficient than other vessels in the Eagle Bulk fleet.

Diamond 53s have been targeted in Eagle Bulk's fleet renewal programme, brokers say.
