European shipbuilders have opposed any potential further delay to the implementation of the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWMC).
Community of European Shipyards’ Associations (CESA) and SEA Europe said they are against International Maritime Organization (IMO) member states like Brazil, India, Norway, Liberia, UK and Cook Islands, that want to push back the date of enforcement.
A final decision on the issue is expected be made during next week’s Maritime Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) at the IMO.
