Shipping stocks closed mostly in the red today as US president Donald Trump threatened to put a 10% tariff on $300bn worth of Chinese imports.

Of 35 US-listed companies across shipping, 29 saw their shares decline anywhere from 0.5% to more than 8% by the end of the day.

And analysts are putting the blame squarely on that latest Trump tax, set to take effect 1 September, on the world's second largest economy.
