A hot-ticket LNG newbuilding enquiry cloaked in secrecy for up to 15 LNG carriers worth around $2.9bn has been circulated to shipyards.
Industry sources said yards are working on responding to the requirement for nine firm vessels worth about $190m each, plus at least three pairs of optional slots.
One said there is “very, very strong confidentiality” surrounding the project, which is being handled by shipbroker Clarksons under the code name “Project Helen”.
