Chilean shipowner Ultragas has sold its oldest LPG carrier, but has denied reports that it went to a Cuban-controlled company suspected of violating US sanctions by trading oil from Venezuela to Cuba.

Several brokers told TradeWinds that the shipowner had offloaded the 20,600-cbm Nordic Gas (built 1994) to Caroil Transport Marine for $9.5m.

Cyprus-registered Caroil was among several outfits that were recently blacklisted by the US Office of Foreign Asset Control on suspicion of circumventing sanctions on Venezuela.
