The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is teaming up with the container-shipping industry with hopes of improving boxship safety on the seas.

The classification society and Cargo Incident Notification System (CINS) have come up with recommendations to help mitigate risk of stowing dangerous goods on boxships.

Maersk Line, MSC, CMA CGM, Evergreen and Hapag-Lloyd formed CINS in 2011 for anonymous reporting on casualties to increase supply chain safety, lower cargo incidents and underline risks.
