Insurers are set to contest the details of the June 2011 pirate attack on the 150,000-dwt suezmax tanker Brillante Virtuoso (built 1992) in the Gulf of Aden in the second stage of a UK High Court hearing into the insurance claim on the vessel.

In the first hearing, concluded last week, Mr Justice Flaux ruled in favour of owner and claimant Suez Fortune Investment that the vessel was a constructive total loss (CTL), entitling it to the award of its full insured value.
