First Chevron Gorgon LNG cargo departs for Japan

Australia’s Gorgon Project has shipped its first cargo of LNG with the shipment bound for delivery into Japan.

Chevron said the cargo was loaded aboard its 160,000-cbm Asia Excellence (built 2015) and will be delivered to Chubu Electric Power.

The Chevron-controlled, three-train project, in which ExxonMobil and Shell are also foundation partners, is the largest ever private-sector investment in Australia and has taken seven years from the start of building work to first exports.
