Norway's Shearwater GeoServices has sold an elderly seismic survey ship for scrap as it continues its fleet renewal.

The company, which is owned by Rasmussen Group, Schlumberger and Oslo-listed GC Rieber Shipping, said the 8,400-gt seismic Western Trident (built 1999) will be recycled in Turkey.

Shearwater said this will be done in line with European Union regulations and the 2009 Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships.
