China’s Gia Shipping is entering the international shipping market with a $62m deal for a pair of kamsarmax bulker newbuildings.

The Chinese shipping company, which is also known as Taizhou Jiahang Shipping, has contracted state-owned Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) to build the two 85,000-dwt bulkers.

The ships are slated to be delivered in the first quarter of 2023.

Speaking to TradeWinds, Gia managing director Zhu Wei confirmed the order.
