Seaspan Corp has confirmed an order for 10 7,000-teu containerships as it expands further into the mid-sized sector of the market.

The shipping subsidiary of New York Stock Exchange-listed Atlas Corp has signed a contract with a major shipyard for the scrubber-fitted vessels for delivery from the second quarter to the fourth quarter of 2024.

TradeWinds reported on 21 September that Seaspan had signed the 10-ship deal with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) for a total cost of $860m.
