Liner shipping companies are rolling out contingency plans to deal with a fresh round of strikes at German ports.

Danish giant AP Moller–Maersk said a 48-hour strike launched by workers on Thursday at terminals across Germany had directly affected its operations in Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven.

The Copenhagen-based company has been forced to halt imports and exports across German terminals for the duration of the industrial action but hopes to return to normal operations when it ends on Saturday.
