Bank of Communications Financial Leasing (BoCom FL)’s purchase of four supramaxes from a European fund was a pure speculative play, according to a company official.
The official confirmed the purchase of the 57,000-dwt E Transporter (built 2010) and its 2011-built sisterships E Traveller, E Tracer and E Trader, a deal reported by TradeWinds last month.
He told TradeWinds the purpose of the deal was not to provide financing for a customer but purely a bid to buy low and sell high.
