The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has closed a two-year investigation into alleged price fixing in the liner shipping industry.

It has done so without bringing any charges or imposing penalties, say liner shipping sources.

The investigation was initiated in March 2017 when investigators subpoenaed top executives of several shipping lines.

But Swiss liner operator Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) today confirmed that it had been informed by the US DOJ that the investigation had been closed.
