Egypt’s Suez Canal brought in more money in April compared to the previous month, but transits fell.

Vessels paid $433.1m to use the waterway last month, up from $428m in March.

A total of 1,444 ships passed through, down from 1,460, and the overall tonnage was down at 76,751,000 gt from 76,671,000.

The canal authority benefited from a 3% price hike in March, its first for three years.
