Durban port could be set for a $14bn makeover as it aims to double capacity by the end of the decade, a report claims.

Land is currently being eyed up for the huge project which will almost certainly involve public and private partnerships, according to an article in South African newspaper Business Report.

At least ZAR 100bn ($14.44bn) is to be spent on the development of a new port with construction to kick off in 2015, the newspaper reported citing chairman of the port’s operating company Transnet.
