The Panama Maritime Authority said the Korean Register of Shipping passed an audit for the class society to be a recognized organisation (RO).
The Panama Maritime Authority, which has some 8,900 ships under its flag, says the Korean Register obtained "satisfactory results," allowing it to receive the technical certificates needed to inspect ships in the Panama flag fleet.
Recognised organisation are authorized by flag states to ensure compliance with the rules of navigation and maritime security of the flag's merchant fleet.
