Three of the ships detained during the month for failing Port State Control (PSC) inspections were classed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).

The highest number of deficiencies was found on the RMRS-classed 7,635-dwt general cargoship Sinegorsk (built 1991) which was found to have 31 problems, including six that gave grounds for detention.

The Sinegorsk lost 1,000 tonnes of timber overboard when it floundered in a fierce storm off the UK in 2009.
