Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding has started to build a series of bulk carriers at its nearby Koyagi shipyard in Nagasaki which it recently acquired from Mitsubishi Shipbuilding.

The shipyard has been dormant since Mitsubishi vacated the property last year and handed over the keys to Oshima.

It was mainly used by Mitsubishi to build LNG carriers and VLCCs before the yard no longer became competitive in those sectors.
