September 2 1994 TradéWinds Page 13 Battle lines drawn in FPV scramble STAVANGER: A pair of offshore oil field development projects in Norway have attracted the attention of yards and contractors keen to build and operate floating production vessels (FPVs), but an ongoing row over Norway s petroleum taxation rules threatens to derail these schemes. Norwegian oil companies Statoil and Norsk Hydro are expected to invite bids this autumn for fabrication of large FPVs each believed to cost close to USD 400m with Statoil choosing a ship for its Norne field and Norsk Hydro opting for a semi-submersible rig for its Njord field.
