Niovis Shipping of Greece appears to be renewing its fleet and has purchased a 52,000-dwt bulker newbuilding from Orix Maritime Corp of Japan.
A spokesman for Niovis, the Piraeus shipmanagement arm of London-based Bray Shipping, confirms it has bought the bulker, which is due for delivery from Tsuneishi in December.
Sources say the ship is costing $19.5m but the spokesman could not confirm this, although he says the price is in that region.
