The tremendous response to TradeWinds Maritime Photographer of the Year contest has made picking a shortlist for a vote from our readers difficult because there have been so many impressive images.

But from the many photos submitted we have whittled down the entries to a shortlist that we hope reflects the diversity of the maritime scene.
